Scott McGonagle brings 43 years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer, including 35 years as a Head Athletic Trainer at three prominent universities. Recognized as an industry leader at the state level, McGonagle was inducted into the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in May 2008, a testament to his lifelong commitment to excellence in athletic training.
Most recently, McGonagle worked with the National Football League as a Concussion Spotter for the Houston Texans and served as an independent contractor with the Boling ISD School System, providing athletic training services. He recently retired from daily athletic training duties to spend more time with his family.
Throughout his distinguished career, McGonagle directed all aspects of Division I Co-Ed Athletic Training Programs at the University of Tulsa (1982–1995), the University of Miami (1995–2012), and Rice University (2012–2017). At Rice, he also served as Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance from 2013 to 2017.
McGonagle played a pivotal role in developing and directing Athletic Training Educational Curricula at both the University of Tulsa and the University of Miami, significantly impacting the next generation of athletic trainers.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona. In 2007, McGonagle further enhanced his expertise by completing a certificate program in Healthcare Management at the University of Miami.
